Lockdown Walks in Dorset You Need To Try

Lockdown Walks in Dorset You Need To Try

With everything going on in the current climate, it has never been more important to carve out some time for yourself. And what better way to achieve that than a beautiful walk in the fresh air?
To help you achieve this, we've curated a little list of our 5 favourite Dorset lockdown walks!

1. Avon Causeway

Only true locals will have heard of this one!
Hidden off of a small track, this area has remained its natural beauty as almost untouched by humanity. As you walk up towards the hill, you are completely surrounded by trees as far as the eye can see, which gives you a lovely feeling of peace. Climbing your way up to the viewpoint can be a little gruelling but boy is it worth it! Once you get to the top, you are greeted by a view that lasts for miles. This one is my personal favourite lockdown walk, and we often visit after a tough day to gain perspective and recharge.
2. Rhinefield House

This walk is small but incredibly calming. Secluded in the forest, and completely encased by tall trees it really does deliver on the 'surrounded by nature' aspect of a lockdown walk.

3. Milford on Sea to Barton Walk

More of a beach lover? You can walk upon the clifftop along this dreamy path with sea views for miles. It's an incredible lockdown walk which is perfect at sunset. Plus you can even climb down to the beach coves and have your own little oasis.

4. Tall Trees Walk

If trees could talk, then boy would these ones have some secrets! Home to some of the tallest, heaviest and toughest trees in the world, this walk offers a classic woodland vibe. Perfect for those that prefer a flatter lockdown walk in the woods!

5. Hengistbury Head

If you live in Bournemouth and are yet to walk up Hengistbury Head, where have you been?
A favourite for many, this lockdown walk is one of the most beautiful ones in the area. Hengistbury has a stunning woodland aspect in the centre, with multiple ponds and wildlife whilst also being surrounded by the beach on 3 sides, offering a lovely view throughout. Although this is quite a long walk, there are several shortcuts allowing you to skip any particularly tricky areas (like the steep hill!) and both a car park and bus stop at the end.
Tired of locked walks yet? You can also cycle large parts of this trip!
