Know Your Locals Launch Event

Know Your Locals Launch Event

On Friday the 5th of May, we hit off the summer with our Know Your Locals Launch event. It was a great turnout and we celebrated with workshops and a beach clean. Scroll below to see some of the activities we got up to!

Located outside Sobo Beach in Southbourne, we kicked off the evening with a speech from Tabitha from Surfers Against Sewage. She informed all attendees of the work the charity do and why it is crucial that we engage as a community to make positive steps for the planet through ocean activism.

Our brand ambassador, Ruby Free, also joined us and said a few words about the important message behind the campaign. Ruby is a campaigner for our oceans through conservation, surfing, and presenting. If you'd like to find out more about Ruby and the incredible work she does, click here to visit her Instagram.

We then continued the event with a relaxing ocean breathing session, led by Jo Cruickshank, a local breath work practitioner and fine artist.

Once we were feeling more connected with nature through meditative breath work, we all took part in the Million Mile Clean. On a beach that we initially thought was clean, we collected 4.72kg of rubbish including fishing rope, discarded plastic, and cigarette butts.

After this, we joined the team at Brothers Make for a demonstration on how to give single use plastic a second purpose. We learnt how to melt down plastic waste into beach toys, and held a competition for winning the beach bats they made during the demonstration. Congrats to Faye & Owen, who are now prepared for their next beach day activity!

After a short break, Nathan and Alice took to the stage to talk about the campaign and the journey they have been on to create the recycled products. If you'd like to learn more about their journey, click here.

We had such a blast, and the event would have been nothing without you. So thank you all for joining, whether in person or virtually!
If you would like to show your support, shop our Know Your Locals collection. 50% of sales are donated directly to Surfers Against Sewage. Want to see if you've been snapped at the event? All photos can be found here.
